How to Become Irrelevant (Recipe for Nonpsychotic Dissociation)
Yield: One Serving
Ingredients: A Tablespoon of Loose Memory, 200g Dried Friends, Some Free-Range Distance
A recipe I discovered some time ago.
It took years of experience,
but I finally have mastered it and decided to
cobble together some instructions.
With quite simple ingredients you can
make an exquisitely rich and elegant plate of
loneliness, or solitude if you like.
First step is a change in geography
Readying your luggage, don't forget
Not to leave any emotional baggage
Be content with what you left behind
And let them cherish in their zone of comfort
To become forgettable
Then slowly drift away from the minds
And memories of the ones you loved
No story you partook back then
Has any consequences
Let them stay where they mattered
And free your loved ones from a burden
To become forgotten
Getting scraped off from the tabula
Of your dear acquaintances
Will be difficult as it is
But the most important step in the process of insignificance
Is getting used to having no bonds whatsoever
To the crowd which once was your habitat of excellence
As you start to lose your relevance
Before serving, acknowledge
That no present action you might take
Will have any mark on the value
Of your presence
Even though they might light the night ahead of daylight
Your deeds will not be welcomed with reverence
Everything in your once beloved haven
Will become indifferent
This will be the final phase of
Becoming irrelevant
